Apple- a new definition in a new generation

Do you still remember what you could do when you were 2 or even 3 years old? I remembered I could ride a tricycle, dig in the sand and also create big mess everywhere every time. It wasn't my intention to be such a troublemaker, I did tried to make things right, like when I tried to wash my own plate, I ended up smashing the plate on the floor. After all, back in the 80's, there's no such thing as entertainment, unlike what kids nowadays have. Furthermore, though we were born into a rich family, sad to say, the sole breadwinner of the family, my grandmother that is, is the most thrifty women in the entire town, she never buys us toys. So, we made use of what we had, some rubbers for burning, and a rusty pot to cook, pretending to be chef or mother. Whatever you want to call it. Back then, the only Apple we know is a fruit, what do we know a thing about Apple iPhone!
20 years later, things changed and people too. Kids nowadays are brought up in a totally opposite environment. No parents would allow their kids to roam around the neighbourhood all by themselves, or cycle freely around town. They'd rather spend the money buying Apple iPod for their kids and locked them in the safety of their homes. Take my almost 3 years old boy for example, he is expose to these hi-tech gadgets from a very young age, he's now such a pro when it comes to playing with my iPhone. He knew where's the iPod player, Youtube, or how to even call his daddy on his own. He can even play Mario on his cousin's Nintendo DS.
I don't know about the future, but one thing for certain, our kids won't be bragging to their kids about what an amazing childhood they had, things like climbing a tree, catching tadpoles from the monsoon drain or even bathing naked in the backyard. Well, they might even think we had a crazy childhood. Whatever.

take a good look at us

take a guess..which one is me?
when we were younger, we always must dress up the same. if mom were to buy us dresses in different color, we'll fight over it everyday. but my twin sis, bein the super fighter cock she was, must get the prettier of the dresses. the pinkish one, me the bloody red one.

heeeizz...those were the days. fun days.

granny's gold keepsake

every little baby born into this family gets a tiny gold chain from grandma for keepsake, including me. it has been in mom's keepsake in the safe deposit for almost 30 years now. I think grandma wants us to keep it as a token of remembrance of her, though she left us a long time ago.

Since the olden days, chinese are very keen in gold investing. must say they are right and clever too. over the decade, gold price increased so dramatically, it has become a luxury item highly sort after. it symbolised one's wealth and purchasing power. The richer ones invest in gold ingots of pure bullion cast in a convenient size and shape. these coins have a currency value so there's no worries that the value will depreciate.

Thanks to grandma, all of us have something to remember after her. something sentimental and of good value. in the future, i'll pass this to my son, hopefully he'll keep it with the family for as long as he can.

i'll be attendin a friend's weddin. a friend i met in newcastle when i once lived. not too long, about two years. i love that place so much i often dream of goin there again. i sure will.

this friend, a malay used to date an tall handsome 'angmoh' (english). back then, everythin seems certain. like we'll surely ended up marryin and have half a dozen of kids with them. my own relationship was no exception. i date a thai. a rich thai. he's so handsome, i wasn't that pretty but he fell for me. or maybe i thought so.

to be continued..i got to run. i'm late for her weddin dinner. just to let you know, today she's marryin someone else..just like me.

Precious Keepsake

When i was born, granny bought me a gold neckless. For the chinese especially, gold signifies one’s wealth and purchasing power. I didn't get to see it, not to mention wearing it until much later after she died. Mum gave it back to me as she know i'm old enough to keepsake it. Today, just like silver bars, gold value has increase two if not three folds over the years.

That neckless granny gave to me would be a good return on investment if i were to sell it. But no. I'm never goin to even consider it. This is the only keepsake i have from my granny and it holds a fond memory i have for my granny. I'm going to keep it for as long as i have to, maybe passing it on the my children when i'm old and cold.
